I am in the last few weeks of my undergraduate career at the University of Minnesota and I have no idea what I want to do after graduation. What I do know is that I want to be able to spend as much time as possible with my gelding Notch.
As a little girl I had always wanted a horse but never got one. According to my parents they cost to much and they feared I would not be responsible enough to care for a horse. Looking back I completely understand their arguments at the time though I was not so understanding.
In high school I finally began riding. My friend stuck me on her 20 year old Arabian mare bareback and wished me luck. I have pictures from that day, it was not a pretty sight, although I did learn balance quickly. I rode that mare until last year when I started riding Notch, though I did still work with her on a few occasions to make sure she was still behaving herself. Don't let her age fool you that mare still had a lot of spunk left in her!
